Research In Motion co-Chief Executive Jim Balsillie has respondedto outcry from users over the buggy launch of the Blackberry Storm saying that it was important the the company release the device in time for the the annual American Black Friday spending frenzy. Mr. Balsillie added that this deadline was met “by the skin of their teeth”.
Infuriated users have reported flaws with the operating system, touch screen and camera control systems all of which are vital to the operation of the touchscreen Storm. After a substantial volume of (more…)

The Nokia E75 rumour has been floating around since late last year, when several pictures were first leaked on to the Internet. Now in the run-up to the Mobile World Congress further information and a ton of clear pictures has appeared, complete with speculation we’ll see the official announcement at the Barcelona event.
Looking very similar to the Nokia 5730 XpressMusic mobile we talked about in last week’s news roundup, the E75 is a more business focused 3G device with (more…)

Views of text speak range from it being, like, SO K3WL, to being a Babel-virus designed to lobotomise our language centers and leave us all dribbling in front of Hot Topics unable to recite anything but our credit card numbers. It’s a fact that every time you say OMG out loud you lose fifty brain cells, either from the psychic force of everyone nearby wanting to punch you or they just abandon ship and jump out your ears before you can watch another episode of Pop Idol.
Many use text sensibly - but their case isn’t helped by idiots like these:
1. Purse Snatcher Presses “Send” - To Jail
Armed with only a cellphone Nicholas Greenly reached a level of pathetic you’d normally need three Tiny Tims and an amputee kitten to achieve. He snatched a purse from an 84 year old woman, so he’s off to great start on the Loser Olympics, but he really kicked it over the failure bar by (more…)

If you’ve been complaining about the cost of your contract, spare a thought for this handset which will set you back a cool £1.6 million.
This glitzy iPhone has the dubious honour in this day and age of being the most expensive phone in the world.
The phone has been created by Australian jeweller Peter Aloisson who also has the Nokia 6300 Gold Edition in his repertoire.
The otherwise standard iPhone features a line of white gold around the edge of the phone, and is also encrusted with 138 high-quality cut diamonds.
That brings the price up a bit from the standard iPhone, but what really breaks the bank is the Home button which features a rare and rather large 6.6 carat diamond.

An Android proof-of-concept video showcasing some pretty decent multi-touch capabilities has turned up, and it's getting close to consumer-level quality.
When most Americans hear the name Huawei, they believe that it's someone saying ‘Hawaii' the wrong way. Contrary to this assumption, the Chinese manufacturer is very popular outside of the US (at present, they only have one model available in the US, and it's with regional carrier MetroPCS). Over time, rumors had circulated that the company would eventually release an Android phone, and it appears to be coming to fruition at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (February 16). The phone will be in the booth marked "Mobile U-Life," so if you're there, be sure to check it out.
On an unrelated note, the event looks to be an exciting one, and according to Gearlog, announcements are expected across the board from Palm, Nokia, Microsoft, Samsung, and HTC.
The old iPhone was tough as nails. iPhone 3G? Too fragile. Noah checks out the ifrogz Luxe case. It's a slim two-piece case that's dockable but has a few flaws.
Nokia's N96 mobile phone sports a 5 MP camera and MPEG video capture rated at full VGA resolution @ 30 frames per second. That's on par with non-HD camcorders. But how does it work? Noah hits the streets to find out.
