Thanks in part to the recession gripping most areas of the US, wireless providers have been lowering pricing across the board. In the race to offer the cheapest wireless service in the US, Tracfone subsidiary Straight Talk has jumped into the pack with its $45 unlimited talk/text plan. Not to be outdone, they're even generous enough to throw in 30 MB of data usage. Though the device options consist of a Motorola RAZR V3a, Motorola W385, or an LG200CM, the monthly service cost is hard to beat.
For those that don't need unlimited minutes, a $30 plan is available that offers 1,000 minutes and 1,000 text messages. As an MVNO, Smart Talk utilizes Verizon Wireless' nationwide voice and data network for its offerings. Boring equipment aside, anyone interested in signing up?

The HighScreen PP5420 has been around for a bit, running Windows Mobile 6.1. You can check out full specs and some sexy photos over at mobinova's
product page for Ice, as the phone is called. It has a 3Mp camera with a secondary cam for video calling, 3G and a 3" WQVGA TFT-LCD touch screen.
But what makes this device interesting is the navigation pad below the screen. The touch screen is supplemented by a touch screen--the second being OLED. Unwired View notes the resemblance to the Samsung Soul in the same
post where they announced that this thing will be ditching Windows Mobile 6.1 pro for Android. My guess is the company will go for the "
No Strings" option.

It seems like I've been waiting Android-powered MID from Archos for a long time. It's really only been a few months since I first posted on it but it's an exciting prospect and we haven't been given anything but text bites to tide us over.
Of course all Android fans are curious to see how the OS will stand up outside of the mobile phone context. We're all waiting for more on the netbook front, and hopefully the Skytone will not disappoint. The telephony-enabled Archos 5 Internet Media Tablet is specifically geared towards media, so this is a chance for Android to spread it's wings, and hopefully, demonstrate its versatility.
Pocket Lint
reports the the 10mm thin tablet with a 5" hi-res screen will be launched on September 15th. Any chance of a review unit, Archos?
